October winds

October winds

Amira Zait

Nightfall ushers ghost whispers of the wind, icy chills reminiscent of an

October night, where pumpkins sit carved with eerie faces

Cats flick lazy tails, gazing, watching the wind sweep a finger through harvest with a scythe

Too scared to say anything, children watch on wide-eyed-

Ignorant of the vast, guardians say nothing

Valorant, brazen like devils, costumed monsters stroll past

A shriek in the air-

Giggles ensue, a breath relieved of childhood

And people look up, it’s time to move on;

Nightfall winds move fast,

Tied by ticking time
