Here at last.
The last 200 meters
On this rusty red track
And yet I don’t know if
I can go further
How long does it take
To run this race?
Since when
Did we all start running
This quickly?
My legs are numb
To my own willpower
And my breaths are so loud
And too heavy
Red and sweaty runners
Garner their last hopes
Desperately pull themselves forward
And drag past me
Why
I contemplate as I continue on
Are we all running this race
Without end
Without pleasure
With the mere speck of hope
Of a finish line
Maybe we can just
Lay down here
And rest with peace
