Disconnect

Disconnect

Charlotte Bolay

I balance on a rope

Stretched across nonexistence

Parallel to reality but so far away

A single misstep and I drift off

Through layers of billowing cotton clouds No safety net below me

Amidst hazy days and sleepless nights I long for purpose, reach out to caress It through the abysmal mess of pathways Twisting, turning, leading to dead ends

I disappear into the aether when I

Feel the rush of a fleeting fantasy

Words pass me by as I regress

Into cobwebs of elusive dreams

Forever waiting for a sweet awakening To pull me to reality, a physical entity A body with song and beauty, flesh and blood And we can finally become one eternally
